George Westmore |
The family of Westmores have had 4 generations of fantastic Hollywood make up since 1917. George Westmore worked for different companies but also privately worked with famous actors/actresses which gave him a reputation. Soon after actors desired to be made up by the Westmores and were given the opportunities to view their looks created in their house which was their 'Portfolio'.
Back then the make up and hair was created by the actors themselves however George Westmore started a tradition where the stars had artists do their hair and make up. Due to depression George Westmore died of suicide however his great tradition was carried on by his sons. The Westmore brothers then founded the Westmore studios in Los Angeles.
George Westmore (1879- 1931)- started off as a hairdresser who moved to United States becoming a known make up artist and a wig maker in Hollywood.

Mont Westmore (1902-1940) - Was the eldest son of George Westmore. He was the head of make up department at Selznick and worked on famous films. He was a workaholic which led him to a heart attack.

Perc Westmore (1904-1970) - Like the rest of the Westmore brothers, Perc was a make up artist for Hollywood and he became the head of the Warner Brothers make- up department.

Ern Westmore (1904 - 1968) - Ern Westmore was an actor alongside following the tradition of being a Westmore make up artist. Ern was considered as the most talented of the Westmore brothers. He was the director over 50 films.
